The Purple Sessions

The Purple Sessions take place in Boyles of Slane on the
last Thursday of the month. Four acts will take to the stage performing five-six
songs to an appreciative crowd in the intimate venue. The Purple Sessions are
unique as there is an excellent opportunity for bands to purchase a high quality mastered ‘In Session’ video which will give the act a solid
platform to reach new audiences through YouTube and other video streaming sites.

Boyles is a charming
intimate 60 seated capacity venue in the heart of the original Irish Rock
village of Slane. The current owners have brought quality acts such as John
Spillane, Eleanor McEvoy, Paul Heaton and Colin Devlin to Slane for headline
shows since December 2008. The dedicated crowd are also treated to the best of
original music with regular session nights such as ‘Live at Boyles’, annual
band competitions and regular mini festivals. The Purple Sessions offers bands
the perfect opportunity to make long-term contact with the venue owners and
other bands, sell cds and to impress the faithful Boyles crowd.
The Purple Sessions began life in 2008 in Drogheda before
moving to Boyles of Slane in the Summer of 2011. Run by musician Gerry Hodgers
the objective of The Purple Sessions is to give bands a platform to perform and
to produce a high quality mastered video for the act to use as a marketing
tool. At present there have been over 72,000 views on the channel.
In Boyles at The Purple Sessions there is a great opportunity for an artist to
purchase on the night an ‘In Session’ video which will edit snippets of the best
tracks with a short interview.

Named after the popular Mundy track this website began in
November 2008 and has recently surpassed the quarter of a million views mark. Written
solely by Peter Nagle, 2UIBestow features reviews, news and opinion for Irish
bands and artists. In June 2009 in association with the blog Peter began
running session gigs in Boyles. Over this time those nights gained local
support from music fans and built up a reputation from the artists who made the
trip to perform. Past performers include popular acts such as Ham Sandwich, The
Dirty 9s, Storyfold and Bill Coleman. All Purple Sessions gigs will be reviewed
on the blog with the gigs heavily promoted through the blog and the social
networks.
